One of the most important designs Matisse made during his “cut-out” period. He formed the woman’s face by using a collage of cut-paper. Matisse also added his own hand-written text and a text created from cutout letters. The design was then taken to the Mourlot studio where it was transferred to lithography. The poster was printed twice: first in 1950 for the exhibition and then again in 1959 as a part of the “Affiches Originales” series printed by Mourlot.
