Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso Musée de Lyon
This Picasso lithograph poster displays a dazzling array of blue hues and depicts ‘Nature morte à l’aubergine’ (Still life with Aubergine, 1946). During the late 1940s and early 50s Picasso produced a series of “nature morte” paintings. This colourful example is one of several made at that time. Picasso’s soft, swirling strokes within this abstract cubist still life, relays a sense of calm and tranquility.
Picasso was commissioned by the Musee de Lyon to create a poster for the “Festival de Lyons, Charbonniers” (30th June – 15th September 1953).
