Pierre Jeanneret Kangaroo Lounge Chair Set of Two
Pierre Jeanneret Kangaroo Chair – set of two. Exceptional vintage design.
The Pierre Jeanneret Kangaroo chair is a great example of timeless mid-century design. Low wicker caned armless easy chair or “Kangaroo” lounge chair.
The exact provenance of the set is a general hospital in the capital city Chandigarh, India. The master plan for the urban design of this city was prepared by the great Le Corbusier. Both chairs have remnants of the painted stencil lettering and are from the same building. A remarkable artefact of modernist history.
This set of Pierre Jeanneret chairs are very rare, with less being made than the Pierre Jeanneret arm chair. Both show signs of good honest use and have some repairs and patina as evidenced in the images.
Design Period: 1955 – 1959
Fully restored by an expert in the South of France. Teak wood and wicker cane.
Presented with a certificate of authenticity from professional auction expert.
